Factor_ Meals (also simply known as “Factor”) is one of the up and coming nation-wide pre-made meal delivery services that recently caught our eye.

If you know anything about Emily and I from reading this site, it’s that we like easy to make, tasty, and good-for-you meals. Factor checks all those boxes.

Since our initial review, we’ve received questions and comments regarding their re-launched service so we decided to dedicate an article to breaking down the most important things to know about Factor Meals.

Here’s what you need to know before hitting the order button…

1. Factor Meals Used to be Called “Factor75”

First things first, the company has had a bit of a rebrand. They were previously known as “Factor75”, which you may have heard of before. They opted to drop the “75” from their name to be easier to digest (pun intended), but that doesn’t mean it has changed their overall focus or impacted their quality.

Since 2013, the company has offered pre-made, good-for-you meals to their customers thanks to the support of their team of gourmet chefs and dietitians. All of the meat has always been grass-fed and pasture-raised, as well as everything is gluten-free, antibiotic/hormone-free, soy-free, non-GMO, and none of their food contains refined sugars.

The main differences in the revamp of their meal kit comes down to the website, branding, and packaging. Instead of the lime green and black colors, everything is mainly black. Although, their website domain is still “factor75.com”.

In terms of new food offerings, they’ve introduced Factor+. This is an “a la carte” add-on service that allows you to add certain foods like steak, salmon, nuts, and more. The thought process behind adding Factor+ is to help people stick to certain macros throughout the day. For example, if you were on a high-protein, low-carb diet and just needed a few salmon filets to hit your nutrition goals for the day.

Here’s our first ever video review of Factor 75 if you’d like to compare it to our most recent video review to see the differences for yourself.

2. They Offer Meals Specific to Specialty Diets Like Keto, Paleo, Low-Carb, Dairy-Free & Gluten-Free

I’ve found that one of the trickiest things about choosing a meal delivery service is finding one that provides suitable meals when you follow a niche diet. Factor Meals surprisingly provides pre-made meals for a wide variety of diets. In fact, out of the hundreds of boxes we’ve tried and reviewed, no other pre-made meal kit offers as many diet variations as Factor does.

Here’s a rundown of each diet they cater to and some sample meals to give you an idea of what you can expect if you decide to go with them:

  • Keto: Philly Style Cheesesteak, Italian Sausage & Peppers, Spicy Turkey Poblano
  • Paleo: Lemon Rosemary Chicken, Turkey Apple Breakfast Hash, Paleo Teriyaki Salmon
  • Low-Carb: Shrimp and Grits, Ricotta Meatballs, Brisket Ropa Vieja
  • Dairy-Free: Moroccan Vegetable Stew, Spinach and Pea Rice Bowl

As an FYI, all of their meals are gluten-free. When cooking, they use gluten substitutes such as almond flour, butternut squash, and coconut flour. That being said, Factor Meals is not a certified gluten-free company so that means there can be some cross-contamination in the preparation/cooking process. If you follow a gluten-free diet because you have celiac disease, you may want to choose a more suitable meal kit.

3. As a Customer, You Can Access Their Nutrition Coaching

If you need some extra accountability to help you reach your health goals, Factor offers nutrition coaching as an add-on service. This allows you to receive advice from their dietitian team, as well as give you the support you need to create long-lasting changes with your health.

At this time, Factor Meals offers two different options for their coaching packages. You can purchase their one-month coaching package or go for a longer term option at three months. With each package, you’ll receive a personal wellness coach, a digital diet dashboard, and a virtual food log. The one-month coaching package currently costs $139.99 per month, while the three-month coaching package currently costs $99 per month.

One of the main reasons people fall off the diet bandwagon is because they either lose motivation or they feel like they aren’t making any progress. Nutrition coaching could be a great way to keep yourself accountable, if you are looking to stick to healthier eating long-term.

4. Color-Coded Meal Sleeves Tell You What’s in Each Meal

If you are considering a pre-made meal kit, you’re probably doing so to save time. Well, one of the added benefits of the Factor rebrand is that they added specific color coding to each meal sleeve that corresponds to what’s in it.

  • Breakfast meals are labeled in yellow
  • Meals that contain meat are orange
  • Seafood dishes are blue
  • Veggies are green

What this means is now when you open the refrigerator door, you can easily spot what you want — just grab, heat, and eat.

5. They Also Offer Cold-Pressed Juices

Since their relaunch, Factor Meals has started offering cold-pressed juices as another way to help people save time while still fueling their bodies with the right nutrients.

These juices are ideal when you’re out and about or they can be enjoyed in between meals or with a meal. I’ve found that they’re a great grab-and-go breakfast option when I’m hungry and busy. Or, I’ve used them as a natural pick-me-up during my mid-day slump (rather than chugging another cup of coffee).

Should you choose to add these juices to your next order, you can expect to see a four-pack of 12 fl oz juices. The available flavors at this time include Apple Beet Ginger, Apple Kale Wheatgrass, Pineapple Turmeric Basil, and Carrot Orange Ginger.

6. You Can Schedule a Free 20-Minute Diet Consultation

Most healthy or fitness-specific meal kits really only focus on the “food” aspect of dieting. However, the mental and strategy aspects of dieting are just as important (if not more so).

To kick off your healthy eating journey, Factor offers a free 20-minute diet consultation so new customers have the opportunity to chat with their dietitians. This is ideal for anyone who is ready to take their health seriously. Working with the dietitian, you’ll set S.M.A.R.T. (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and timely) goals, get help personalizing your weekly meal selections, and have all of your questions answered.

The best part is you don’t need to be a customer. Even if you’re just considering going with Factor but you haven’t pulled the trigger yet, you can still  book your free call with no strings attached.
